Update from students in Prague 5/27Josh LaRavia
Hello family, I miss all of you so much but know that you are right here with us in prayer and intercession. We love all of you and could not do it without your love and support. I could not begin to fully articulate how awesome the ministry in Prague is in our second year in the city. God is working here in such a real and tangible way, and He has honored our faithfulness in coming back for a second year. So many students from last year are with us all day every day. I only planned to be here for ten days and that is probably good at the pace I am going. Since the time is so short I am working sixteen-eighteen hour days following up all my key leaders and contacts. Peter, Mormir, Pasha, and Martin are my key Czech men, who love the Lord and are growing young leaders, please pray for their growth. Also pray for our partnerships with Dan, Dave, Phil, Jason, Zach, Scott, and Terry. These men work for a myriad of mission agencies from Campus Crusade, a Presbyterian Church plant, Calvary Chapel, Athletes in Action, and more. Partnering together with them to expand HIS Kingdom is of utmost importance. I have met with each of these mission leaders one on one to cast vision for how we all can work together for the glory of God.

Yesterday, we went on a picture scavenger hunt around Prague, and it was great to see the city. I met a girl named Bara. She was so excited about meeting and hanging out with us. I cannot wait to share with her and get to know her more as we continue to meet. Students here are very eager to discuss and see what we believe. There is a lot of hope for this country! Please continue to pray for the Czech people and our team.

Yesterday we were able to meet a bunch of Czech students. After the scavenger hunt, I was able to talk to a girl named Klara. She was excited to practice her English with us. I’m excited to get to know here better and be able to share my beliefs with here. Please pray that she will be receptive and that God will give me the words to say. Also, please pray for our team and the hearts of the other students.

Last night, Thomas and I got to meet this great guy called Victor, a student from China. He was hilarious and pretty crazy too! We had a conversation about God and I got to share how Christ had changed my life, which he was very open to. Please pray that we would be able to develop that conversation and that God would give him understanding and openness to the Gospel. We also met many students at the University, so please be praying that we would be able to meet with these students again and that they would be open to us sharing Christ with them.

It was already so encouraging to see God’s power and heart for the Czech people as He provided financially for this trip. Our hostel is amazing, and the perfect spot to hang out with all of our new friends. Please pray that the Lord allows us to speak truth to Sona and Julie. They both have a desire to improve their English and we have already begun to build a solid friendship with them. Chow!

Hey you guys from Prague, it has been great over here, today I got to go to the Economic University, and meet students. After getting some pasta I sat down with a student named Pavel. He’s a great guy and has already been in the U.S. Please pray that spiritual conversations will come up and that he will be open to talk about it.

Hey Yall! It’s SO great to be back in Prague after one year!! I got to meet up with 4 of the girls that I became friends with last summer. It was so great to catch up with them and continue our relationships! I am really trusting God to bring these girls into relationship with Him this summer. Please pray for Veronika, Jane, Lucie, and Janie that they will understand the love of Christ and trust Him as their personal savior and Lord this summer. Thank you SO MUCH for your prayers.

Hello from Prague! The last two days have been absolutely amazing. Yesterday was the first day we went to the Economic University to try and meet Prague students. We finished our briefing about 12pm so, it made sense to try and meet students in the cafeteria. God definitely opened some doors for us and we ended up befriending about 18-20 Prague students. We invited all of them to participate in a video scavenger hunt at 7 that night and had a great turnout. Today, Josh, Landon, and I had lunch with a student named Peter. We had great spiritual conversation and found out that he is actually pursuing a Christian girl! I also met with a guy named Phillip. Phillip and his brother David lost their mother at the ages of 10 and 8 respectively and have always been very distant from their father. Phillip has come a very long way to where he is spiritually now. He acknowledged recently that he does think there is a God and that “He thinks he has Jesus.” Please pray specifically for Peter to continue in His spiritual growth and that God with work through us in Prague to show Phillip and David what a loving Christian family looks like so that they may grow in their spiritual life and eventually want to live for Christ.

Hello from the Czech Republic! It has been so wonderful to see how God is working in Prague. Eating lunch with Czech students and seeing their openness to our team has been incredible. I ate lunch with Marek, Sandra, and Pavla today and was able to share with them why I was in Prague and how God has changed my life. These next couple of weeks are going to be so encouraging!

Hey great people. Prague has been more then expected. The city is beautiful and I am quickly learning that the people are as well. The other day we had a scavenger hunt across the city with some of the Czech students. Because of my injured leg one of the Czech students volunteered to drive me around. It turns out he spent some time living in Louisiana on an exchange program. He was able to learn “American” football and continues to play here. He is a great guy who is attending a bible study here with another Christian leader but is not yet a Christian. I hope and ask you to pray for our relationship to grow so I may also share how Christ has changed and continues to change my life so that it may help bring Martin to Christ as well.

What up! We made it to Prague and hit this foreign ground running. The city and the people are stunning on the outside and so rich on the inside. I met this guy Johnny, who is actually Taiwanese exchange student, and his spirit is alive and wild. He is not a Christian, his parents are very rich and send him everywhere he wants (he has been to the north pole) and deals with rejection on a daily basis from his parents due to his struggle with homosexuality in an ultra conservative Asian culture. Please pray that I might be used to point Johnny to Jesus, the only Man who will never reject him. It is so encouraging that you are reading this and praying for us while we are over here. We need it. Pray for the hearts of the Czech people that they may be receptive to the incredible news of the Gospel! Pray that we continue to grow and bond as a powerful body of Christ!

Prague is such an amazing city. Today we went to the Economic University to meet with students. I had some really great conversation with three different people. It was a great start to developing close relationships with this people in order to introduce them to God. There is so much potential in this city for God. I ask that you continue to pray for us that God will give us the strength and courage we need to carry out our mission here and also that He will give us His words to speak with our mouths.

The Parable of the Minas - luke 19
10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
11 While they were listening to these things, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because He was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.
12 So He said, “A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and {then} return.
13 “And he called ten of his slaves, and gave them ten minas and said to them, ‘Do business {with this} until I come {back.}’
14 “But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’
15 “When he returned, after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be called to him so that he might know what business they had done.
16 “The first appeared, saying, ‘Master, your mina has made ten minas more.’ 17 “And he said to him, ‘Well done, good slave, because you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to be in authority over ten cities.’
18 “The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, master, has made five minas.’ 19 “And he said to him also, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’ 20 “Another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I kept put away in a handkerchief;
21 for I was afraid of you, because you are an exacting man; you take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.’
22 “He said to him, ‘By your own words I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am an exacting man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow?
23 ‘Then why did you not put my money in the bank, and having come, I would have collected it with interest?’ 24 “Then he said to the bystanders, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’
25 “And they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas {already.}’ 26 “I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.
27 “But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence.”
28 After He had said these things, He was going on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is {to be} revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
1 Corinthians 3:11-15
9 Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 11 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.
2 Corinthians 5:9-11
The Judgment Seat of Christ
What does it involve?
Only believers will appear before the judgment seat of Christ. The “great white throne” judgment described in Rev. 20:11-15 is for unbelievers.
What is it?
At His judgment seat, Jesus will determine a believer’s faithfulness to Him and reward each person appropriately. This will not be a determination of one’s eternal destiny; that issue is decided the moment a person believes in Christ.
Who will preside?
The risen Christ.
Where will it occur?
Heaven
When will it occur?
The scripture does not specify when this will occur but it could possibly occur before the Millennial Reign. It is obviously at a time when all Christians are gathered in heaven.
Why is this doctrine significant?
Knowing that in the future we will stand before Jesus Christ and face a review of our lives should motivate us to live righteously and faithfully in the present.
How can we prepare for our eternal audit?
Walk by faith in the reality of who we are in Christ and not by sight. Develop a longing for heaven that motivates us to do His business until He returns. The judgment seat of Christ is a good wake up call that reminds us only Jesus can satisfy the believer.
